What is Alzheimer's disease?
Alzheimer's is a disease that older people get that permanently affects their brain. It affects the part of the brain called your neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are messengers that let different parts of your body communicate with each other. A person with Alzheimer's disease has less of these.
Someone with Alzheimer's might forget people's birthdays, names, or favorite things even if they know the person very well.
It's not only about forgetting though- sometimes they might seem more frustrated or sad than usual.

No matter which of these things you see in your loved one, you should know that they are all a normal part of Alzheimer's disease.

Try not to be scared if you can, because this is just a part of the disease that a lot of people have. Many kids who know someone with Alzheimer's are going through the same thing you are.
