How should I help people I know with Alzheimer's disease?

It's good for people with Alzheimer's disease to spend time with other people. While it may be hard for the person to remember things, doing something simple like taking a walk or watching a TV show can be comforting to them or make them happy.

Some other important things are making sure to listen to them and not interrupt or disagree if you can. People with Alzheimer's sometimes respond well to humor and affection. 

​Figuring out how to help people who have Alzheimer's disease is a big step in your relationship with them. To help people, a good idea is to find their interests. Since there is a lot of variation depending on the person, you should try to figure out what they like and do it with them. You might have to adapt to their style and be gentle and patient. It’s all part of the process on how to help them.

Something that can be very beneficial when dealing with someone who has Alzheimer's is to keep the same routine. It can get confusing for them when things change often. After figuring out what works to do with them and what doesn't, maintaining the same schedule is very helpful.
